A coconut that smells like pandan
Most coconuts give clean, mildly sweet water. The pandan coconut (kelapa pandan, also sold as aromatic or fragrant coconut) is different. It's a dwarf coconut variety whose water and flesh carry a natural fragrance close to pandan leaves and fragrant rice.
That's why it's called pandan coconut water, even though nothing has been infused into it. The fragrance is part of the fruit, the same way some rice varieties smell fragrant while others don't.
What does it taste like?
Like fresh young coconut water, lightly sweet and clean, with a soft fragrance that reminds most Malaysians of kuih, kaya and nasi lemak. The sweetness is all from the coconut. It's best served very cold, straight from the fridge.
Why is my Cocopod sometimes pink?
Pink is fine! Fresh coconut water naturally contains polyphenols, and when they meet air they can turn the water a light pink. It's the same thing that happens when a cut apple turns brown. Because Cocopod is raw and has no preservatives or colour stabilisers, you may see anything from clear to a soft blush. The colour is natural and doesn't mean the drink has gone off. Always go by the date on the pod and how it has been stored.
What's in a 330 ml pod?
One ingredient: 100% raw pandan coconut water. One pandan coconut holds roughly 200–250 ml of water, so each 330 ml pod carries the water of about one and a half coconuts.

Why fresh coconut water is usually only found at stalls
Fresh coconut water is delicate. Without preservatives or heat treatment it needs to stay cold, which is why most of us only drink it fresh at a roadside stall, with someone swinging a parang and handing over a straw.
Many packaged coconut waters solve this with heat treatment or long shelf-life processing. Cocopod keeps it raw and keeps it cold instead. Our own refrigerated trucks hold every pod at 2–5°C from the farm to the store chiller, so the water stays as close to fresh-from-the-shell as we can get it.
